The Story of I Am Worthy Of Love

In 1993 I wrote the song I am worthy of love, but at the time I did not believe it. I was feeling very down and depressed with my life. The church I was attending began teaching a class called 4T-Tithing of Time, Talent and Treasure. The course is essentially designed to increase prosperity. However, people who take the course discover that prosperity comes in forms other than money. It was Lesson 7 that inspired the words to “I Am Worthy of Love”. Our assignment was to become still and listen for a still small voice. We were instructed to do this by focusing all of our energy into our heart and focus on the words, “I am” and hear these words with every beat. Then I allowed my mind to quiet and listen to what ever “heart thoughts “came to mind. Then I began to repeat over and over, “I am worthy of love”. Tears began to stream down my face; as if I were just given the most precious gift imaginable. Out of the blue the words to I am Worthy of Love began to flow easily and effortlessly. Though the words came through me it was quite some time before I truly believed it. What I have come to realize is that this song is like a mantra or a prayer that reminds me to look at areas of my life. If I start to feel or behave in ways that are less than loving, the words to this song remind of what’s really true about me. I can then remember this is true for everyone else. Now hundreds of people who have heard the song have their own stories of being worthy of love.

About 5 years ago my dear friend Pat Crocket came up to me and said “Bukeka, I want to sing but I feel like its too late”. She now has a band called Little Wing, a blues band that rocks. I know I’ve seen them. Her voice is strong, powerful and confident. I asked her if she would sing back ground vocals for my I Am Worthy of Love Concert. She calls this a dream come true.
